“Mother Goose” is a co-conspirator for racial justice who I met last year. She is one of the last fifteen or so long-standing occupiers of Marcus-David Peters Circle. I call them “space keepers,” but they called themselves “occupiers.“

MG calls herself a “protester.” And she’s not kidding around. She said she’s in it for the long-haul. We had a brief chat today. We don’t want to have to keep protesting, but law enforcement continues to execute community members without benefit of trial. Our conversation meandered to last year, and how the opening of the trial against George Floyd’s murderer has re-traumatized us all.

We also remarked upon how yesterday, a misguided person chose to use harsh, acidic chemicals that are bad for the environment to power wash the artwork off of the streets.
